This morning's grand opening of the Pi Beta Phi Bookshelf at Hill Country Memorial Hospital (HCMH) was fantastic! Over forty people attended, including many Pi Phis, HCMH staff and several members of the Fredericksburg community, including Mayor Jeryl Hoover. A reporter from the Fredericksburg Standard was there to cover the event as well.
Everyone was so excited to see our Fredericksburg literacy project come to life. Dr. Marc Williamson, FISD Superintendent, commented that he really believed in what our club is doing for childhood literacy, and that he wished he'd thought of the project himself! What a compliment.
Most of the credit for the implementation and success of the Fredericksburg Pi Beta Phi Bookshelf must go to Missie Lanham...thank you, Missie! Other Pi Phis in attendance were Lee Arellano, Janet Degenhardt, Susan Dunham, Leslie Haight, Carla Herbig, Lane Hutchins, Jan McNabb, Suzanne Morhart, Meredith Plesko, Lyda Slayton, Leslie Spraggins, Jody Tomforde and Mary Wills.
