A Super Find for Used Books in Kerrville

Yesterday, I went to the Salvation Army Store on Jefferson Street in Kerrville to look for used children's books for our Pi Beta Phi Bookshelf...what a find!

I was able to purchase 110 gently used books for just $30! The books range from early readers to pre-teen readers. And, the manager of the store, Fred, said that they restock children's books weekly.

Our Bookshelf at Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital has been very successful, as evidenced by the tales told to me by hospital staff and by the attrition of books (taken home by the kids who visit the emergency room waiting area). That's the whole point of our project: to put books in the hands of kids!

I purchased these books with my own money, not from the alumnae club's account: I consider it a contribution, one that I hope all of us will make at some point. Please contact me if you'd like directions to the Salvation Army Store or if you have more wonderful ideas for book resources: president@ringching.com.
